EXT. SPACE
Anakin and Obi-wan are flying fighters in space near General Grievous's ship.  They are fighting enemies.

ANAKIN
Lock on to him, R2. Master, General Grievous's
ship is directly ahead- the one crawling with vulture droids.

OBI-WAN
I see it. Oh, this is going to be easy.
Oddball, do you copy?

ODDBALL
Copy, Red Leader.

OBI-WAN
Mark my position.
Form your squad up behind me.

ODDBALL
We're on your tail, General Kenobi.
Set S-foils in attack position.

ANAKIN
This is where the fun begins.

OBI-WAN
Let them pass between us.


ODDBALL
They're all over me. Get them off my-

Oddball is shot down and his fighter crashes.

ANAKIN
I'm gonna go help them out.

OBI-WAN
No. They are doing their job so we can do ours.

The buzz droids shoot missiles at Anakin and Obi-wan.

ANAKIN
Missiles. Pull up.

OBI-WAN
They overshot us.

ANAKIN
They're coming around.

OBI-WAN
All right, R4. No, no. Nothing too fancy.

ANAKIN
Surge all power units, R2. Stand by reverse thrusters.
We got 'em, R2.

Buzz droids attack Obi-wan's fighter.

OBI-WAN
Flying is for droids. I'm hit. Anakin?

ANAKIN
I see them. Buzz droids.

OBI-WAN
R4, be careful. You have a- Oh, dear. They're shutting down
all the controls.

The buzz droids kill R4 and begin dismantling the ship.

ANAKIN
Move to the right so I can get a clear shot at them.

OBI-WAN
The mission. Get to the command ship.
Get the chancellor. I'm running out of tricks here.

Anakin shoots the buzz droids on Obi-wan's fighter.

OBI-WAN
In the name of- Hold your fire! You're not helping.

ANAKIN
I agree. Bad idea.

OBI-WAN
I can't see a thing. My cockpit's fogging.  They're all over me. Anakin!

Anakin hits the buzz droid with his wing.

ANAKIN
Move to the right.

OBI-WAN
Hold on. You'll get us both killed.
Get out of here. There's nothing more you can do.

ANAKIN
I'm not leaving without you, Master.

A buzz droid attacks R2-D2.

ANAKIN
Get him, R2. Watch out.
R2, hit the buzz droid's centre eye.

R2-D2 kills the buzz droid.

ANAKIN
Yeah, you got him!

OBI-WAN
Great, R2.

ANAKIN
The general's command ship is dead ahead.

OBI-WAN
Have you noticed the shields are still up?

ANAKIN
Sorry, Master.

OBI-WAN
I have a bad feeling about this.

INT. GRIEVOUS' SHIP

OBI-WAN
R2, locate the chancellor. The chancellor's signal is coming from
right there - the observation platform at the top of that spire.

ANAKIN
I sense Count Dooku.

OBI-WAN
I sense a trap.

ANAKIN
Next move?

OBI-WAN
Spring the trap.

ANAKIN
R2, go back. .I need you to stay with the ship.

OBI-WAN
Here. Take this and wait for orders.

INT. CONTROL ROOM

GRIEVOUS
What's the situation, Captain?

CAPTAIN
Two Jedi have landed in the main hangar bay. We're tracking them.

GRIEVOUS
Just as Count Dooku predicted.

INT. SHIP
Destroyers come to attack the Jedi.

ANAKIN
Destroyers.

Destroyers shoot them. They fend off the attack and get on an elevator.
But new enemies appear behind them.

ENEMY
Drop your weapons. I said drop 'em.


They kill the enemy in the elevator.

INT. HANGAR
Some more droids come to the hangar.  R2 hides.

ENEMY
Those are Jedi fighters all right.

The elevator stops.

OBI-WAN
Did you press the stop button?

ANAKIN
No. Did you? There's more than one way out of here.

Anakin makes a hole in the elevator's ceiling by a lightsaber.

OBI-WAN

We don't want to get out. We want to get moving.

Obi-Wan uses his communicator.

OBI-WAN
R2, activate elevator 31174.

Obi-Wan's voice comes through R2's speaker.

R2(COMMUNICATOR)
Come in, R2.

The enemy hears Obi-Wan's voice.

ENEMY
What that?

R2(COMMUNICATION)
R2, do you copy? R2, activate the elevator number 31174.


R2 hides and lowers the communicator's volume.

ENEMY
Get back to work. That nothin'.

OBI-WAN
Activate the elevator 31174. R2.

Anakin jumps out of the elevator.

OBI-WAN
Always on the move.

OBI-WAN
R2, switch on the comlink. R2, can you hear me? R2? R2! R2!

The elevator that is operated by R2 starts going down

OBI-WAN
Stop. Stop. R2, we need to be going up.

The enemy droids point their weapons at Anakin and Obi-wan.

DROID
Hands up, Jedi. Anakin and Obi-wan kill the droids in the elevator.

OBI-WAN
R2, do you copy? R2, do you hear me? R2, we need to be going up, not down.

INT. MAIN HANGAR
The droid notices R2.

DROID
Hey, you!

INT.ELEVATOR
R2 sets the elevator to go up.

OBI-WAN
That's better.

INT. MAIN HANGAR

DROID
You stupid little astro droid.

The droid kicks R2-D2.

INT.ELEVATOR

OBI-WAN
Oh, it's you.

INT. MAIN HANGAR
R2 attacks the droid.  He sets the droid on fire.

DROID
My eyes! My eyes!
INT.ELEVATOR

ANAKIN
What was that all about?

OBI-WAN
R2 has been-

ANAKIN
No loose wire jokes.

OBI-WAN
Did I say anything?

ANAKIN
He's trying.

OBI-WAN
I didn't say anything.

INT. ROOM
The chancellor is strapped to a chair.

OBI-WAN
Chancellor.

ANAKIN
Are you all right?

PALPATINE
Count Dooku.

Count Dooku appears.

OBI-WAN
This time we will do it together.

ANAKIN
I was about to say that.

PALPATINE
Get help. You're no match for him. He's a Sith lord.

OBI-WAN
Chancellor Palpatine, Sith lords are our speciality.

COUNT DOOKU
Your swords, please. We don't want to make a mess of things
in front of the chancellor.

OBI-WAN
You won't get away this time, Dooku.

ANAKIN
I've been looking forward to this. My powers have doubled since the last
time we met, Count.

COUNT DOOKU
Good. Twice the pride, double the fall.

They fight. Count Dooku uses the force. Obi-Wan is defeated.
Anakin and Count Dooku continue to fight.

COUNT DOOKU
I sense great fear in you, Skywalker. You have hate. You have anger.
But you don't use them.

Anakin cuts Count Dooku's arms and gets Count Dooku's lightsaber.

PALPATINE
Good, Anakin. Good. Kill him.

Count Dooku looks surprised.

PALPATINE
Kill him now.

ANAKIN
I shouldn't.

PALPATINE
Do it.

Anakin kills Count Dooku.

PALPATINE
You did well, Anakin. He was too dangerous to be kept alive.

ANAKIN
Yes, but he was an unarmed prisoner.

Anakin releases Palpatine.

ANAKIN
I shouldn't have done that. It's not the Jedi way.

Palpatine stands up.

PALPATINE
It is only natural. He cut off your arm, and you wanted revenge. It wasn't the first time, Anakin. Remember what you told me about your mother and the Sand People?

Anakin keeps quiet.

PALPATINE
Now we must leave before more security droids arrive.

Anakin tries to save Obi-Wan.

PALPATINE
Anakin, there's no time. We must get off this ship before it's too late.

ANAKIN
He seems to be all right.

PALPATINE
Leave him, or we'll never make it.

ANAKIN
His fate will be the same as ours.

INT. SPACESHIP'S COMMAND ROOM

GRIEVOUS
Prepare for attack!

The spaceship shoots.

SAILOR
All batteries!  Fire!  Fire!

Anakin is going to use the elevator.

ANAKIN
Elevator's not working. R2, activate elevator 3224.


CAPITAL DROID
Reverse stabilizers. Reversing stabilizers.

ADMIRAL
Magnetize! Magnetize!

GRIEVOUS
Fire the emergency booster engines.

CAPITAL DROID
We're levelling out, sir.

Obi-wan wakes up.

ANAKIN
Easy. We're in a bit of a situation here.

OBI-WAN
Did I miss something?

ANAKIN
Hold on.

OBI-WAN
What is that?

ANAKIN
Oops.  R2. R2, shut down the elevator.

OBI-WAN
Too late. Jump! Let's see if we can find something
in the hangar bay that's still flyable.

ANAKIN
R2, get down here. R2, do you copy?

CAPITAL DROID
General, we found the Jedi. They're in hallway 328.

GRIEVOUS
Activate ray shields.

Palpatine, Anakin and Obi-wan are trapped by ray shields.

ANAKIN
Ray shields.

OBI-WAN
Wait a minute. How did this happen? We're smarter than this.

ANAKIN
Apparently not. I say patience.

OBI-WAN
Patience?

ANAKIN
Yes. R2 will be along in a few moments...
and then he'll release the ray shields.

R2 comes out, chased by droids.

ANAKIN
See? No problem.

The droids aim their guns at them.

DROID
Don't move.

OBI-WAN
Do you have a plan B?

Obi-Wan  and Anakin were taken to General Grievous.

GRIEVOUS
Ah, yes. The negotiator. General Kenobi.
We've been waiting for you.

DROID
Excuse me.

GRIEVOUS
That wasn't much of a rescue. And- Anakin Skywalker. I was
expecting someone with your reputation to be a little... older.

ANAKIN
General Grievous. You're shorter than I expected.

GRIEVOUS
Jedi scum.

OBI-WAN
We have a job to do, Anakin. Try not to upset him.

GRIEVOUS
Your lightsabres will make a fine addition to my collection.

OBI-WAN
Not this time. And this time, you won't escape.

Obi-Wan and Anakin use the force to recover their lightsabers, and begin
fighting.

ANAKIN
R2.

GRIEVOUS
Crush them! Make them suffer!

DROID
Come. Now!

GRIEVOUS
Stay at your stations! Get him! Get him!

DROID
Run!

GRIEVOUS
Don't bother with them. Keep the ship in orbit.

DROID
Yes, sir.

GRIEVOUS
You lose, General Kenobi.

General Grievous escapes.

DROID
Get out of here! Run!

GRIEVOUS
Time to abandon ship.

ANAKIN
All the escape pods have been launched.

OBI-WAN
Grievous. Can you fly a cruiser like this?

ANAKIN
You mean, can I land what's left of it?

OBI-WAN
Well?

ANAKIN
Under the circumstances, I'd say the
ability to pilot this thing is irrelevant.

Anakin is going to land the spacecraft.

ANAKIN
Strap yourselves in. Open all hatches.
Extend all flaps and drag fins.

The spacecraft begins to break into pieces.

ANAKIN
We lost something.

OBI-WAN
Not to worry. We are still flying half a ship.

ANAKIN
Now we're really picking up speed. Eight plus 60. We're in the atmosphere.

OBI-WAN
Grab that. Keep us level. Steady.

ANAKIN
Easy, R2. 5000.

OBI-WAN
Fire ships on the left and the right.

FIREMAN
We'll take you .

ANAKIN
Copy that.

OBI-WAN
Landing strip, straight ahead.

ANAKIN
We're coming in too hot.

The ship lands safely.

OBI-WAN
Another happy landing.

Obi-Wan stays on the ship.


ANAKIN
Coming, Master?

OBI-WAN
No. I'm not brave enough for politics. I have to report to the council.
Besides, someone needs to be the poster boy.

ANAKIN
Hold on. This whole operation was your idea.

OBI-WAN
Let us not forget, Anakin, that you rescued me from the buzz droids.
And you killed Count Dooku, and you rescued the chancellor...
carrying me unconscious on your back.

ANAKIN
All because of your training.

OBI-WAN
Anakin, let's be fair. Today you were the hero...
and you deserve your glorious day with the politicians.

ANAKIN
All right. But you owe me one, and not
for saving your skin for the 10th time.

OBI-WAN
Ninth time. That business on Cato Neimoidia doesn't
count. I'll see you at the briefing.
Obi-Wan flies away in a spaceship. Anakin and the politicians go
into a building.

WINDU
Chancellor Palpatine, are you all right?
PALPATINE
Yes. Thanks to your two Jedi knights.
They killed Count Dooku, but
General Grievous has escaped once again.

WINDU
General Grievous will run and hide,
as he always does. He's a coward.
PALPATINE
But with Count Dooku dead, he is the leader of the droid army.
And I assure you...The senate will vote to continue the war as long
as Grievous is alive.

WINDU
Then the Jedi Council will make finding Grievous our highest priority.

POLITICIAN
Watch it.

JARJAR
Excuse me.

C-3PO
Come along, R2.

C-3P0 talks with R2-D2.

ORGANA
The Republic cannot praise you enough.

ANAKIN
Thank you, Senator Organa.
R2-D2 is talking to C-3PO.

C-3PO
It couldn't possibly be as bad as all that.
Now there I agree with you. In fact, I could do with
a tune-up myself.

ANAKIN
But the fighting will continue until General Grievous is spare parts.

ORGANA
I will do everything I can in the senate.

Anakin sees Padme waiting for him in the shadows.

ANAKIN
Excuse me.

ORGANA
Certainly.

Anakin gets close to Padme and they hug each other.

ANAKIN
I've missed you, Padme.

PADME
There were whispers that you'd been killed.

ANAKIN
I'm all right. It feels like we've been apart for a lifetime.
And it might have been, if the chancellor hadn't been kidnapped.
I don't think they would have ever brought us back from the outer
rim sieges. Anakin tries to kiss Padme.
PADME
Wait. Not here.

ANAKIN
Yes, here. I'm tired of all this deception.
I don't care if they know we're married.

PADME
Anakin, don't say things like that.

ANAKIN
Are you all right? You're trembling. What's going on?

PADME
Something wonderful has happened.
Ani, I'm pregnant.

ANAKIN
That's wonderful.

PADME
What are we gonna do?

ANAKIN
We're not gonna worry about anything right now. All right?
This is a happy moment. The happiest moment of my life.

EXT.SPACE
Grievous's ship lands on a secret base.

GRIEVOUS
Yes, Lord Sidious?

SIDIOUS
General Grievous...I suggest you move
the separatist leaders to Mustafar.

GRIEVOUS
It will be done, my lord.

SIDIOUS
The end of the war is near, General.

GRIEVOUS
But the loss of Count Dooku-

SIDIOUS
His death was a necessary loss. Soon I will have a new apprentice-
one far younger and more powerful.
INT. ROOM
Anakin and Padme share a bed in a room on planet Coruscant.

PADME
Ani, I want to have our baby back home on Naboo.
We can go to the lake country where no one will know...
where we can be safe. I can go early and fix up the baby's
 room. I know the perfect spot. Right by the gardens.

ANAKIN
You are so... beautiful.

PADME
It's only because I'm so in love.

ANAKIN
No, it's because I'm so in love with you.

PADME
So love has blinded you?

ANAKIN
That's not exactly what I meant.

PADME
But it's probably true.

Anakin is having a nightmare.  Padme is screaming.

PADME
Anakin, help me!

Anakin gets out of bed.  Padme also wakes up and goes to him.

PADME
What's bothering you?

Anakin touches Padme's necklace.

ANAKIN
Nothing. I remember when I gave this to you.

PADME
How long is it gonna take for us to be honest with each other?

ANAKIN
It was a dream.

PADME
Bad?

ANAKIN
Like the ones I used to have about my mother, just before she died.

PADME
And?

ANAKIN
And it was about you.

PADME
Tell me.

ANAKIN
It was only a dream. You die in childbirth.

PADME
And the baby?

ANAKIN
I don't know.

PADME
It was only a dream.

ANAKIN
I won't let this one become real.

PADME
This baby will change our lives. I doubt the queen will continue
to allow me to serve in the senate. If the council discovers you're
the father, you'll be expelled

ANAKIN
I know. I know.

PADME
Do you think Obi-Wan might be able to help us?

ANAKIN
We don't need his help. Our baby is a blessing.
